Detoxification at Oasis Detox
After admitting that you have a problem, detox is the first step to recovering from drug or alcohol addiction. It’s also one of the most painful and dangerous phases of the recovery process.
When you get addicted to a substance, your mind and body form a powerful attachment to it. Therefore, when you decide to stop taking it, you’re going to experience physical, mental, and emotional pain because of your bodies chemical dependency on the substance. We have medical staff available to provide care throughout.

- Vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea
- Confusion, irritability, and anxiety
- Sweatiness and high heart rate
The detoxification process

Questions?
If you have more questions that were not answered here, please contact us and we’ll be happy to assist.
Before we begin the detoxification process, we’ll first perform a one-on-one evaluation. This will confirm whether or not you need a detox because we’ll perform blood tests and take a full patient history. From there, we’ll come up with a plan of attack, walk you through the actual detox process, and provide medications if your symptoms get too bad.
While you’re going through withdrawal, you’re likely to experience uncomfortable, painful symptoms. These include vomiting, nausea, headaches, body aches, fevers, and much more. While these symptoms are uncomfortable, we have medical staff that will be caring and assisting you every step of the way.
The time it takes to completely detox depends on how reliant and addicted you were to a substance. The timeframe is different for everyone, but typically lasts anywhere from four to ten days.
Going through detoxification at home is dangerous and difficult. While possible, you won’t have medical personnel available to assist you in case anything goes wrong. You’re also more likely to relapse if you don’t receive ongoing care from a rehab facility.
Detoxification is the first step of many when it comes to making a full recovery. Detox will be followed by ongoing care and treatment at our facility and beyond.
